The ETC NYC First Mondays events series brings production professionals together to socialize and share knowledge.

This month, guest speaker John Huntington will discuss the evolution of live show technology and networking and how the current, mature state of that technology impacts shows now and in the future.

The event will be preceded by a reception in our NYC lobby, where you can mix and mingle with lighting peers and mentors.

Session Description

Have We Reached a Live Show Technology Maturity Point?

John Huntington, CityTech Professor Emeritus and author of several books on entertainment technology, argues that we are now operating in a mature show technology environment. This maturity process was gradual enough that those of who lived through the transition may not even have been aware. In this talk, Huntington traces the evolution of show technology, and its transition phases on its way to maturity. Next, he discusses the implications on the industry of a mature, stable toolset, and speculates about the maturity’s impact on future show technology development.
